Low FODMAP at Pizza Hut

Pizza Hut is a tricky chain for low-FODMAP eating: every standard pie stacks a wheat-flour crust with a tomato sauce that contains garlic powder, and the Hand Tossed crust plus most sides get an extra garlic-butter or garlic-onion seasoning finish. Your best moves are the Udi's gluten-free crust (carried at roughly a third of US locations) with light or no sauce and carefully picked toppings, or sides like plain fries and Buffalo-sauced wings in modest portions. Portion size does a lot of the work here — one thin slice is a very different load than half a pan pizza.

Create Your Own Pizza – Udi's Gluten Free Crust

The rice-and-tapioca crust skips wheat fructans entirely, and mozzarella is naturally low in lactose — the remaining flag is garlic powder in the standard tomato sauce.

💬 Order it: Ask for light sauce or no sauce, regular (not extra) cheese, and build with ham, bacon, green peppers, black olives, or spinach. Skip onions, mushrooms, Italian sausage, and meatballs. Only about 1/3 of US locations carry this crust, so check yours first.

28

Fries

Potato-based with only a trace rice/wheat-flour crisping dust and no onion or garlic in the default fry itself.

💬 Order it: Order them plain — the optional seasonings and dry rubs (Cajun, lemon pepper, salt-and-pepper) contain garlic and onion powder. Go easy on ketchup packets, which are often sweetened with HFCS.

32

Chicken Caesar Salad (dine-in locations), no croutons

Lettuce, chicken, and parmesan avoid the crust problem entirely; the croutons are wheat and the dressing carries garlic, so both need managing.

💬 Order it: Order without croutons and get the Caesar dressing on the side — use a small amount or swap for oil and vinegar. Ask them to hold any red onion. Mostly available at dine-in Pizza Huts (US dine-in and UK restaurants), not delivery-only units.

45

Traditional Bone-In Wings – Buffalo Mild

The Buffalo sauces are corn syrup, vinegar, and aged peppers with no honey or HFCS, but the wings themselves carry a light flour dusting and small amounts of garlic and onion powder in the marinade.

💬 Order it: Stick to Buffalo Mild or Medium and a 6-piece portion. Avoid Honey BBQ, Garlic Parmesan, and the dry rubs (garlic and onion powder). Skip or minimize the ranch and blue cheese dips, which are dairy-heavy.

58

Thin 'N Crispy Create Your Own (1–2 slices)

It is still a wheat crust with garlic powder in the sauce, but it is the lightest crust on the regular menu and, unlike Hand Tossed, is not brushed with the garlic buttery blend.

💬 Order it: Order light sauce and regular cheese, top with ham and green peppers, and stop at one or two slices — the fructan load scales directly with how much crust you eat.

92

Original Stuffed Crust Pizza

The biggest wheat load on the menu plus a ring of extra melted cheese, on top of the garlic-seasoned sauce — a triple stack of common triggers in every slice.

90

Super Supreme / Supreme Pizza

Adds red onions and mushrooms — two concentrated trigger toppings — onto a wheat crust with garlic-powder sauce and garlic-seasoned sausage.

88

Tuscani Creamy Chicken Alfredo Pasta

Wheat pasta in a cream-based garlic Alfredo sauce reads as a lighter choice than pizza but combines a large fructan portion with a heavy lactose hit.

85

Breadsticks

Soft wheat sticks brushed with a buttery parmesan seasoning built on garlic and onion powder — the classic "harmless side" that stacks three triggers.

78

Honey BBQ Traditional Wings

The sauce leads with high fructose corn syrup plus honey — two concentrated fructose sources — over wings that already carry flour dusting and garlic-onion marinade.

Good to know

  • The standard pizza sauce contains garlic powder, so on any pizza ask for light sauce or no sauce — there is no garlic-free red sauce option to swap to.
  • Hand Tossed crust is brushed with a garlic buttery blend by default; ask for it without, or pick Thin 'N Crispy or Pan crust to avoid that layer entirely.
  • Safer toppings: ham, bacon, green peppers, black olives, spinach, and plain tomato. Skip onions, mushrooms, Italian sausage, and meatballs, which add garlic or onion seasoning on top of the sauce.
  • For wings, Buffalo Mild and Medium are the cleanest flavors (corn syrup and vinegar based); Honey BBQ, Garlic Parmesan, and the dry rubs all bring HFCS, honey, or garlic-onion powder.
  • The Udi's gluten-free crust is only stocked at some locations and is cut in-box with a dedicated cutter, but toppings come from shared prep areas — fine for FODMAP purposes, worth knowing if wheat bothers you at trace levels.
  • Mozzarella is naturally lower in lactose, so regular-cheese pizzas are gentler than they look — it is the Stuffed Crust ring, extra-cheese add-ons, and creamy dips (ranch, blue cheese, Alfredo) that pile the lactose on.
