Is Birds Eye Riced Cauliflower (Original) low FODMAP?

FODMAP score

48

Moderate

Carefully — and this verdict changed with the research. The label is two items long: cauliflower and sea salt — no seasonings, no garlic, no onion, no preservatives. For years cauliflower was flagged as one of the most concentrated mannitol sources, but a May 2025 re-test moved it: a 3/4-cup serve now sits low-FODMAP, and the group changed to fructans, which only build in larger serves. That makes the label serving of this product genuinely low-FODMAP — a real win for an honest, clean product. The catch is how cauliflower rice actually gets eaten: as a rice substitute under a stir-fry, curry, or burrito bowl, a realistic plate holds one and a half to two cups, which pushes into the moderate-and-beyond fructan zone. So the practical read is: as a measured 3/4-cup portion folded into a meal, this is a green-zone choice; as an unmeasured rice replacement filling half the plate, it still out-doses the plain rice it replaced — rice carries essentially no FODMAPs at any portion. One more honest note: some sensitive guts react to cauliflower's fermentable fiber independent of FODMAPs, so if brassicas bother you beyond the numbers, that experience is real too.

What's inside

CauliflowerRe-tested May 2025: low-FODMAP at a 3/4-cup serve, with fructans (not mannitol) building only in larger portions — the portion, not the vegetable, is the variable.
Sea saltThe only other ingredient — no FODMAP content.
No garlic, onion, or seasoningsThe label is completely clean — everything rides on portion size.
No sauce or dairyUnseasoned and unsauced, so there is no lactose or hidden fructan source layered on top.

📏 The label serving of 3/4 cup (about 85 g) sits at the re-tested low-FODMAP serve. Realistic rice-swap portions of 1.5 to 2 cups run two to three times that and move into the fructan zone — measure the portion instead of filling the plate, or cut it half-and-half with real rice.
