Is Triscuit Original low FODMAP?
FODMAP score
74
High FODMAP
No at the full serving — six Triscuits deliver about 28 g of essentially pure whole grain wheat, roughly the fructan territory of a dense slice of wheat bread. The label is admirably short: whole grain wheat, canola oil, sea salt. That cleanliness is exactly the problem for FODMAP purposes, because there is nothing in the box to dilute the wheat. Unlike a buttery refined cracker where flour shares the recipe with oils and sugar, a Triscuit is shredded whole wheat and almost nothing else — and whole grain wheat carries more fructan per gram than white flour, since the bran and germ come along for the ride. The canola oil and sea salt are FODMAP-free bystanders. The dose curve is steep: one or two crackers under a slice of cheese is a modest wheat dose that many people handle, while the six-cracker label serving — let alone a mindless half-box — is a substantial fructan load. If you're in a strict elimination phase, skip it. If you're testing your wheat tolerance, this is a product to reintroduce deliberately, a cracker or two at a time, not by the handful; a rice- or seed-based cracker does the same toppable job with none of the load.
What's inside
📏 Six crackers (28 g) is a dense whole-wheat dose comparable to a hearty slice of wheat bread; one or two crackers under toppings is a much smaller ask.
Gentler alternatives
↳Mary's Gone Crackers Original — Brown rice, quinoa and seeds give the same rustic, toppable crunch without wheat.
↳Crunchmaster Multi-Seed — Rice-based square that holds cheese and toppings like a Triscuit.
↳Lundberg Thin Stackers — Whole-grain rice base for cracker duty with no fructan load.
