Is Mission Soft Taco Flour Tortillas low FODMAP?
FODMAP score
55
Moderate
One soft-taco tortilla is borderline — burrito-size, no. The label is simple: enriched bleached wheat flour, water, and vegetable shortening, with under 2% salt, sugar, baking soda, leavening acids, emulsifiers, enzymes, and preservatives. The only FODMAP source in the entire list is the wheat flour, so this is a pure dose question. A soft-taco size tortilla weighs roughly 45–50 g — about a slice and a half of bread's worth of wheat in one round — which puts even a single tortilla at the upper edge of what people with mild fructan tolerance often manage, and two tacos doubles it. The larger sizes change the math fast: a burrito-size tortilla can carry two to three times the wheat of the soft-taco size, and a loaded wrap with beans, onion, or garlicky sauces stacks FODMAPs from several directions at once. Nothing else on the label adds fermentable load — the shortening is fat, the sugar is sucrose, and preservatives like calcium propionate and sorbic acid aren't FODMAPs. If tacos are on the menu during elimination, corn tortillas make the swap nearly seamless; save the flour version for after you've confirmed some wheat tolerance.
What's inside
📏 One soft-taco tortilla (about 45–50 g) is already roughly a slice and a half of bread's worth of wheat; burrito-size tortillas can double or triple that, before counting FODMAP-heavy fillings.
Gentler alternatives

↳Siete Cassava Flour Tortillas — Grain-free tortillas built on cassava, a low FODMAP base, with a soft flour-like texture.
↳Mission Gluten Free Original Tortillas — Wheat-free wrap on rice and tapioca starches for burrito-style uses.
