Is French's Yellow Mustard low FODMAP?
FODMAP score

Low FODMAP
Yes — classic yellow mustard is one of the safest squeeze bottles in the American condiment aisle. French's Classic Yellow lists distilled vinegar, water, No. 1 grade mustard seed, salt, turmeric, paprika, spice, natural flavor, and garlic powder. Nearly everything here is a non-event for a low FODMAP approach: distilled vinegar is FODMAP-free, mustard seed is fine at condiment quantities, and turmeric and paprika are simple spices rather than fructose or fructan sources. Just as important is what is not on the label — no sugar, no corn syrup, no honey, no sweetener of any kind, which is rare among American condiments. The one asterisk is garlic powder, which sits dead last on the ingredient list, meaning it is present at trace level in any normal serving. A teaspoon or two on a hot dog, a sandwich, or whisked into a vinaigrette is about as low-risk as store-bought condiments get. Only the most garlic-reactive users going unusually heavy — think soft-pretzel-dip quantities eaten in one sitting — have a realistic reason to hesitate, and even then the exposure is small.
What's inside
📏 Standard use — a teaspoon or two, up to a tablespoon — is comfortably low-risk; the trace garlic powder only plausibly matters at heavy, dip-like quantities.
Gentler alternatives
↳Dijon mustard — A similar low-risk profile in typical servings, with more sharpness and still no sweetener.
↳Stone-ground mustard — Usually just seed, vinegar, and salt — scan the label to confirm no garlic was added.
