Is energy gel low FODMAP?
FODMAP score
52
Moderate
In small portions — Energy Gel is moderate in FODMAPs. Portion size decides whether it triggers symptoms.
Low-FODMAP serving
1 gel (40 g)
Becomes high FODMAP at
gels sweetened with honey, agave or fruit-juice concentrate, at any size
Most gels are maltodextrin plus fructose: maltodextrin is not a FODMAP, but the fructose adds up when gels are taken back to back, and honey-, agave- or fruit-juice-concentrate-based gels carry excess fructose outright. Check the label for inulin or chicory root fibre, which are fructans; plain maltodextrin, glucose or dextrose formulas sit at the lower-FODMAP end of the shelf.

Usually it's a portion difference, not a disagreement. This page scores energy gel at a serving of 1 gel (40 g); at gels sweetened with honey, agave or fruit-juice concentrate, at any size it belongs in the high band. A source quoting the larger serve will call it high, and one quoting the smaller will call it low — the same food, measured at two different amounts.
Based on published FODMAP research and reviewed reference data. Informational only — not medical advice. Tolerance is individual; verify with a dietitian during the elimination phase.
